The God of Small Things
The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Caused an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt explores how the rise of smartphones, social media, and overprotective parenting have contributed to skyrocketing anxiety, depression, and loneliness among young people. Haidt argues that the "great rewiring" of childhood—marked by decreased independence, less face-to-face interaction, and constant digital engagement—has led to a mental health crisis. He proposes solutions to help restore childhood to a healthier, more resilient state.

I loved how Haidt brings a synergy of different themes to explain the whole concept and cause of a rise in mental health issues in this generation. Oh how we miss out real world social connections that protect us against anxiety and depression. Humans and social beings and I totally concur with Haidt on the importance of mentorship and community. It is one thing to belong and another to be accepted. Haidt portrays why it is important to find both, to belong and be accepted as a means to nurture a healthy psychological well being. Every human being is in search of a sense of belonging, purpose and social support, be part of a community, a book club, an art club, a hiking club let change modern digital life to a healthy life. Haidt also touches on the role of religion in keeping individuals focused on something greater than themselves a higher deity encouraging experiences like practicing gratitude and communal connection, so be part of that prayer cell today
