2025, The Pages, And Its People
In the middle of a rushed, chaotic year, The Reading Circle became a place to slow down—through books, conversations, banter, and community. From monthly meet-ups to unexpected friendships, we kept showing up, reading together, and choosing curiosity. Grateful for the people, the pages, and the joy of yapping about characters every last Saturday of the month. 💚

What a year, 2025 has been!
There comes a time when you need to have a crutch to take you through; sometimes it’s in a book, and even better, with a community. The Reading Circle has been this and more, from rants to growth, and even friendship. 2025 has felt like that employee who’s paid the highest, but you never really see him or know what he does in the company. It clearly had places to be. Amidst the rush, we have found time to read together and build a steady and consistent routine around reading, unlike the 6-12 week Nairobi situationships. 👀
Just yesterday, we had Edwin threatening us for not choosing his book, and Nekesa selling trauma like it was a limited-time offer. I cannot wrap my head around how this year chose to rush. However, even in this rush, this community has been part of a necessary slowing down for many of us. Given some of the reads were not slow, ‘hello bad signs’, there was something deeply grounding about meeting every last Saturday of the month to yap about characters, exchange banter, and just be. Much needed, I dare say, after all that this year served us.
Watching the community grow has been very exciting. I am always happy to see the friendships that have been formed and the continuous engagements that go beyond our regular meetings. PS: The website still needs you to fill out your relationship data🌚🌚. A special shout-out to our moderators this year for building engagement and making reading a joyful experience to return to.
I don’t want to write much, after all, it’s the last week of normal programming. But I am truly grateful for all of you, for showing up, volunteering, moderating, and for your recommendations. For being curious outside your comfort zone and challenging each other. Thank you for making The Reading Circle what it is and for choosing this space every month. 💚
If you’re new here, Karibu sana! Glad to have you take part in our journey and can’t wait to read with you next year. For any clarifications, you can always reach out to Brenda, Fred, or me (about us page). Thank you for joining us!!
We resume our monthly reads in January; Fred will share the reads before the year ends. Till then, happy reading! Spread the news about us sometime if you can🌚🌚, we’d love to meet the readers in your family. 😌😌 Happy holidays and a great start to the new year, most importantly, for the bookish adventure ahead. Grateful to have survived this year, reading with you all.
See you in 2026 💚✨
In reality, every reader is, while reading, the reader of his own self.
